Cancer & Health

When someone you love hears “you have cancer,” everything else stops.

We’re here for what comes next. $33,134 directed to health-focused organizations — from financial lifelines for cancer patients to outdoor healing adventures to integrative therapy for people with disabilities.

The Story

Cancer doesn’t just attack the body. It attacks everything — savings accounts, daily routines, relationships, plans for the future. The patient fights the disease. The family fights to hold everything else together. And somewhere in between, the bills keep coming.

We’ve watched this story play out in our own communities. Budtenders whose parents are in treatment. Customers who come in and mention, almost casually, that they’re between chemo sessions. Cancer is everywhere. And the organizations that support patients and survivors through it are chronically underfunded.

Be.Social Community has directed over $33,134 to health-focused organizations — from financial lifelines for cancer patients to outdoor healing adventures for young adults facing serious diagnoses, to integrative therapy for people with physical disabilities. Each organization approaches healing differently. What they share is a belief that a diagnosis shouldn’t define the rest of someone’s life.

Ray of Hope Cancer Foundation

Q4 2025 · $14,866.50

In Q4 2025, Be.Social Community donated $14,866.50 to Ray of Hope Cancer Foundation, a Colorado nonprofit supporting cancer patients and their families.

Ray of Hope provides financial assistance, emotional support, and practical resources. They help cover the costs that insurance doesn’t — gas to get to treatment, groceries during recovery, mortgage payments when a breadwinner can’t work. The kind of support that doesn’t make the news but makes the difference between holding on and falling apart.

Every cent of that $14,866.50 came from individual purchases, fifty cents at a time, from customers who were just shopping for something they enjoy. Nobody wrote a big check. Everybody contributed.

First Descents

Q4 2024 · $10,164

First Descents is a nonprofit dedicated to providing life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions. Through immersive experiences like kayaking, rock climbing, and surfing, First Descents empowers participants to challenge themselves, build community, and reclaim their sense of identity and adventure.

Founded on the belief that outdoor exploration can inspire healing and resilience, the organization creates transformative programs that foster physical and emotional renewal — offering hope and connection to those navigating life’s toughest challenges. It’s a different kind of medicine. And it works.

Chanda Center for Health

Q1 2024 · $8,103.50

The Chanda Center for Health delivers, advocates, and educates for integrative therapy and complementary services to reduce health disparities and improve health equity and outcomes for individuals with physical disabilities.

They provide access to acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, physical therapy, behavioral health, care coordination, and dental care — serving people with Spinal Cord Injuries, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Spina Bifida, and Brain Injuries. Services are available onsite at their Lakewood facility or remotely.

The Chanda Center exists because the healthcare system doesn’t always reach the people who need it most. Be.Social Community exists for the same reason.

A Note on Cannabis and Health

We want to name something directly: many patients dealing with cancer, chronic pain, and physical disabilities use cannabis as part of their care — for pain management, appetite stimulation, sleep, and emotional relief. Be.Social Community’s support for health organizations isn’t just philosophical. It’s personal. We see these patients in our stores. We know what they’re going through. And we believe the industry that serves them should also support the organizations that care for them.

“You don’t expect that buying gummies on a Tuesday night is going to help a cancer patient pay their electric bill. But that’s exactly what happened — thousands of times over.”
